Imagine a starry summer night full of elegantly dressed guests mingling and enjoying a night rich with Latin culture. To many this sounds like a beautiful night or Noche Bella as we would call it in Spanish. Noche Bella is Latino Network’s inaugural benefit gala event. This year’s gala will be held on August 10th at the beautiful Walk of Heroines at Portland State University from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Latino Network is presenting this event as an opportunity to bring together those who share their vision of a thriving Latino community that is respected and engaged. Being built upon helping the growing Latino community, Latino Network is a nonprofit organization that was founded by community leaders to bring in more resources and programs to help Latinos. Latino Network provides a wide array of transformational programs that have helped to educate and empower Latinos in Multnomah County for years. They address important issues that have been affecting our Latino community and work to find solutions and provide support. Latino Network is passionate about the work they provide as it stems from their mission of providing transformative opportunities, services and advocacy for the education, leadership, civic engagement of Latino youth and families.

Latino Network has even helped some of the members of Lara Media through their programs. In 2009 Lara Media’s office manager Sandra Rivera completed Latino Network’s Portland Diversity and Civic Leadership Academy. Rivera described it as helping her get out of her comfort zone since she had only just graduated from high school and was one of the youngest participants in the program. In this program, you learn about a wide variety of different topics from gender justice and activism to conflict resolution and organizing techniques. Rivera is grateful for all the skills, new friendships and connections she made through the program.  Most of all she enjoyed becoming involved in the community, “I thank Latino Network for this program because it made me who I am today; confident, involved and a better leader for tomorrow’s future.”

At Lara Media we are excited and proud to share with you this wonderful event. Latino Network is always looking for sponsors to make this event successful and also welcomes everyone to attend the event. The event will feature performance art, entertainment and cuisine all reflecting the Latin culture of the community Latino Network serves. Come in support of Latino Network and the amazing work they do for the community while enjoying a beautiful night of dinner and dancing under the stars.
