Something you may not know about Victoria Lara is that she’s an avid reader and she’s always learning new and incredible things. She is on a non-ending quest to be a better businesswoman and a better individual but most importantly; she loves to share what she learns.
One of the lessons that she shared with me and that really changed my life is that saying NO is good.
Recently a friend was telling another friend of mine that he was impressed at how I was not afraid of anything but that’s far from reality. I just applied what I learned from Victoria and I collect the NO’s in my life. I know that at the end of a series of NO’s there will always be a YES waiting for me.
Getting NO as an answer doesn’t change anything; it may hurt, it may be embarrassing, but at the end of the day, life stays the same and you just move on. Getting a YES comes with a reward and incredible feeling of accomplishment. The more I’ve learned to accept the NO’s, the less effect they have over me, and to be honest, the less they come my way.
Embrace the NO’s and ask that guy/girl out on a date, apply for that job you want, ask for a raise or a vacation, ask for a favor, or apply to the school of your dreams. Don’t be afraid! If you get a NO, you just need to move on and re-assess what needs to be done to get that YES the next time. If you happen to get a YES, that is an amazing accomplishment. Keep moving forward and do not stop that momentum. Keep fighting through the NO’s until you get all the YES!
